When Cem Struja, saw how difficult it was for people to access affordable and convenient healthcare, he decided to act. With a deep understanding of the gaps in early diagnostics, he founded WellscanPro, a start-up with a clear mission: bring health monitoring into people’s hands, literally.
By combining AI and medical expertise, WellscanPro allows users to perform lab-grade urine tests at home using just their smartphone. Their solution empowers people to take proactive control of their health, without the burden of long waits or expensive lab tests.
WellscanPro’s journey accelerated in 2024 when they took part in the EIT Jumpstarter programme. Competing in the Health category, the team not only secured 2nd place but also won the Western Balkans Special Prize, a clear sign of their strong potential.
“EIT Jumpstarter was a transformative experience,” Cem shares. “It sharpened our business strategy, connected us with industry experts, and provided invaluable feedback.”
The programme helped them finalise their prototype, develop a solid go-to-market plan, and gain confidence as entrepreneurs.
At the core of WellscanPro is an AI-powered app that uses image recognition to analyse 15-parameter urine test strips. The process is simple: the user scans a test strip with their smartphone and receives accurate results within minutes.
Fast, affordable, and backed by medical insight, the product is aimed at both individuals and healthcare providers.
Throughout their time with EIT Jumpstarter, the team not only validated their technical approach but also began building visibility and credibility.
Key milestones include:
In addition to their Jumpstarter success, WellscanPro won 1st place in the Kosovo Idea to Scale competition (2nd edition) and gained recognition at Wolves Summit in Wroclaw and StartupLive in Vienna.
Mentorship from the programme helped the team navigate challenges, particularly balancing product development with evolving market needs. “With the support of mentors, we turned challenges into opportunities for growth,” says Cem.
WellscanPro launched in Kosovo in early 2025, with plans to expand across the Balkans and Europe. During this stage, the team focused on building partnerships with healthcare providers, scaling operations, and preparing for international growth.
Their goal is clear: to simplify preventive healthcare and make diagnostic tools accessible for everyone.
WellscanPro’s journey is a powerful example of what focused innovation and the right support can achieve. Curious how your idea could grow with EIT Jumpstarter?
