RoboTwin Secures €1.25 Million to Drive European Industrial Automation

Backing Europe’s Rise in Accessible, High-Impact Industrial Robotics.

RoboTwin, a women-led deep-tech robotics start-up from Czechia and proud alumnus of the EIT Jumpstarter programme, has secured €1.25 million in pre-seed funding. This vital investment, a blend of private capital and an EU grant, is set to accelerate RoboTwin’s mission to transform manufacturing processes across Europe.

Since its establishment in 2021, RoboTwin has been at the forefront of industrial automation. The new funds will primarily be directed towards refining their patented no-code robot instruction technology and advancing foundational AI models tailored for the manufacturing sector. As Megi Mejdrechová, CTO and co-founder, states, their ambition is clear: to become “1st no-code industrial robotics solution in the world”.

Key Innovations & Impact

RoboTwin’s intuitive system allows factory operatives to directly instruct robots without programming knowledge. Their human-centric solution allows workers to teach robots movements through simple demonstrations, revolutionizing industrial automation with intuitive learning capabilities.

  • Simplifies Robot Teaching: Drastically speeds up instruction for major industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, YASKAWA).
  • Removes Programmer Dependency: Eliminates the need for dedicated robot programmers in applications like painting and assembly.
  • Global Reach: Clients are already engaging from across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Strategic Investment for European Competitiveness

The funding from European Institute of Innovation and Technology , BD Partners, Y Soft Ventures and Jörg Rupp will fuel RoboTwin’s market expansion and team growth. This investment aligns perfectly with the EU’s strategic focus on supporting innovation ecosystems and start-up and scale-up strategies in manufacturing.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) — a co-investor — is actively supporting European sovereignty in AI-powered robotics. As Jasmina Popovska from EIT noted: “We have been following RoboTwin’s journey since the very beginning and are pleased to have the opportunity to take it one step further.”

Ladislav Bartoníček of BD Partners highlighted RoboTwin’s potential to enable the robotisation of smaller batch sizes and create new use cases for SMEs. Y Soft Ventures underscored RoboTwin’s ideal position to deliver much-needed innovation.

Early Momentum: From Academia to Industry

RoboTwin’s story began in 2021, when the founding team won the EIT Jumpstarter competition, gaining key business training and mentorship. Reflecting on that experience, co-founder Megi Mejdrechová shared:

“The EIT played an essential role. They offered various programmes and mentoring schemes, including EIT Jumpstarter, which was like a crash course teaching us about business plans, business models, customer value, and more. My co-founders and I participated in these programmes and workshops, which were crucial in helping us reach where we are today. It has been a lengthy process, and we’re still learning, but I believe we’re doing a good job.” - Megi Mejdrechová.

Following their early momentum, RoboTwin went on to join the Start It @ČSOB incubator, benefited from CzechInvest’s Technological Incubation, and received a WomenTechEU grant, further fuelling their transition from academic research to real-world impact.
