EIT Jumpstarter is back in 2021

One of Europe’s best programme for early-stage start-ups is back for its 2021 edition, and expanding into the Western Balkans! A 2020 finalist, NeuroTech acquired much needed skills during the programme that helped them to expand and take the next step in their business journey:

“We as NeuroTech LLC are applying for a big European research project called Eurostars in order to develop and validate the solution we are working on. We just now starting to realise what a fantastic help and guidance we have received from the EIT Jumpstarter team. The business plan we developed with the help of the programme is used every single day during presentations and meetings. Thanks a ton for what you are doing.”

Last year 119 teams competed alongside NeuroTech, a total of 335 individuals were trained, mentored and supported in expanding impactful ideas into powerful business models. And they took home the combined prize pool of €162,000.

Is it for me?

One of the winners was Horizer, who competed in the urban mobility division. The team engages in the design, development, manufacture, and sale of solar modules, energy generation and storage systems compatible with any vehicle. Their team lead, Jasmina Ristic recommends the EIT Jumpstarter because

“the programme was extremely rewarding for Horizer team— greatly structured Program with in advance prepared all the material, templates and easy to follow guides on how to; accommodating Meetings and sharing of knowledge and proven experience; and most of all the Network.”

Dora Marosvolgyi, the Programme Manager of EIT Jumpstarter shared some additional details on top:

“EIT Jumpstarter is open to students, PhDs, researchers or entrepreneurs. Participants will learn how to get started on building a business in a unique cross-industry environment. How to create a team, business processes, and organizational design. If you are an innovator in the healthcare, agri-food, raw materials, energy, manufacturing or urban mobility domains with a cool business idea, then this programme is perfect for you. The primary focus is put on quantitative business model building. Through the EIT Jumpstarter programme, trainers and coaches will guide you to find the best fitting business model for your idea, and help you validate it. At the end of the program, graduates will prepare their pitch deck, business model canvas, competitive landscape, go-to-market strategy and a roadmap.”

Expanding to the Western Balkans

The EIT Community has the objective to strengthen and establish its’s presence and outreach in the Western Balkans region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia). Therefore as of the next edition, citizens of these countries will be eligible to participate in the programme. Moreover, teams who get to the Local Joint Trainings phase of the competition will receive increased support.

EIT Health InnoStars will also be leading the Pre-Jumpstarter training in the region which will focus on identifying innovative ideas, strengthening entrepreneurial mindset and supporting promising teams to apply to the Jumpstarter program.

About the programme

EIT Jumpstarter, recognized as the 2019 Best Association Training Initiative in Europe, is one of the widest cross-industrial programmes designed for early-stage innovators who want to gain traction and jumpstart their business.

The fifth edition will be organised in collaboration with six knowledge and innovation communities: EIT Health, EIT Raw Materials, EIT Food, EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Manufacturing and EIT Urban Mobility, supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The programme is especially focused on Central-Eastern and Southern European talents who want to validate their business concept, develop business plan and pitch their ideas to the potential future investors.
